Organised by the Balearic Swimming Federation, this championship is the oldest of the Spanish Swimming Championships held by the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation, taking place in the summer season, in a 50-metre pool. It has taken place yearly since its inception, with the exception of the years 1936, 1937, 1938 and 1939 due to the Spanish Civil War, and 2020 due to COVID-19.
