Stick No Bills® Global Poster Gallery at Imprenta Nueva Balear and El Fomento del Turismo de Mallorca announce the release of new vintage posters from the Mallorca Vintage® collection, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the island.
This new release features three new images created from original designs from the archives of El Fomento del Turismo de Mallorca, the world's oldest tourism association. Since 2020, Stick No Bills® has been working with this institution to research, digitize, and remaster graphic gems from its archives, bringing this cultural heritage back to life for future generations to enjoy.
Two of the new images are based on original watercolors by the renowned Austrian painter Erwin Hubert, who lived in Deià and was the personal secretary of Archduke Luis Salvador during his stay on the island. Hubert donated a large collection of his works to the Fomento, and this project also aims to ensure his name is recognized for the quality and beauty of his paintings of the island. Hubert's works will be presented alongside an entertaining illustrative map of Mallorca from the 1950s, reflecting the characteristic graphic aesthetic of that era.
An event to mark the launch will take place on Wednesday 13th November at 18:30 at Stick No Bills® Global Poster Gallery at Imprenta Nueva Balear.
Imprenta Nueva Balear is a family-run fourth generation business which brings over a century of history dedicated to typographic and lithographic printing to their officially licensed Master Printing role within the Stick No Bills® global poster art and fine art printing project. This collaboration has resulted in a successful creative and business union.
"I am thrilled to present more images for our collection licensed from El Fomento del Turismo de Mallorca," says Stick No Bills® founder Meg Gage Williams. "It was during the apocalyptic spring of 2020 that my husband and I started exploring the incredible archive of this special institution. They were generous in trusting us and welcoming our expertise from that first year, and the fact that we are now unveiling yet more cultural heritage from this hub of mallorquín graphic arts is fantastic.
